RYTON WOOD SSSI 1.5
km S of Ryton on Dunsmore. Entrance SP 384726. 84.8 ha (210
acres). Most owned by the Trust with some leased for 999 years
from ARC Aggregates Ltd. Open access from Ryton Pools Country
Park.
One of the county's largest
surviving semi-natural ancient woodlands with oak, hazel and
small leaved lime coppice. Important for butterflies and birds.
