Trainee opportunities across the Midlands

We are looking for five trainees to make a Wild Career Choice. The project will give you the skills required by today's nature conservationists - practical habitat management, ecological surveying and the ability to engage with volunteers and the public.

 

Each traineeship will last for one year and trainees will receive a bursary of £9000. As well as the in-house training you will receive, you will be allocated a significant budget for external training which can be tailored to your needs. Positions are available with Wildlife Trusts in Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Birmingham.

 

Trainees will work towards a Certificate in Work-based Environmental Conservation.

 

Placements will begin on 1st May 2012. Deadline for applications is Friday 16th March at 5pm, with interviews taking place on 29th and 30th March 2012.

Volunteer Education Trainee

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust is looking for a Volunteer Education trainee. Based at our Brandon Marsh Nature Centre, the Education (Volunteer) Trainee role provides an invaluable opportunity to develop and enhance your skills in engaging children and young people in their natural environment.

 

You will assist the Education Rangers to deliver an extensive and varied programme of formal and informal environmental education activities including: (i) curriculum based education activities; (ii) supporting children's parties and holiday workshops (iii) supporting the development of outdoor play activities (iv) Early Years and Nature Tots activities.

 

You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and be able to work as part of a team and independently. Previous experience of working with children is desirable but not essential.

 

Minimum of 3 days per week between Monday - Friday required. The hours are 09:00 to16:30. Some weekend and evening work will be required.

Charity Box Volunteer

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust are looking for volunteers to develop relationships with local businesses to place, monitor and empty charity collection boxes on a regular basis.

 

You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and be able to work as part of a team and independently. Previous fundraising experience is desirable but not essential.

 

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience of community fundraising.

 

We are looking for someone who can commit to 1-2 hours a week for a minimum of 6 months.

Hours: Working patterns are flexible: typically 3-5 days per week, including weekends.

The Role: We are seeking part-time and full-time Membership Recruiters. Our recruiters work on behalf of the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust at pre-booked venues and at organised events and shows. Most shows and event work is at weekends during the spring to autumn season.

We also operate year-round on both weekdays and weekends at other venues within a radius of approximately one hours travel from your home.
