Wildlife Gardening Project at
Coventry Foyer
In 2010 as part of the vinvolved funded Living
Roots project, the Trust worked with young residents from the
Coventry Foyer, a supported living project that houses 16 - 25 year
olds. We are supported residents to create a wildlife garden
display that showcased different ways of attracting wildlife into a
garden. The display is located in the gardens at the Coventry Foyer
and visible from Spon Street in Coventry city centre. It is hoped
that it will inspire local people to replicate elements of the
display in other areas and take positive action for wildlife in
their own gardens or outdoor spaces. To assist with this, there is
interpretation boards at the display garden.
The garden was created in June 2010 with
elements of both the planning and practical work carried out by the
young people which provides a range of food, plants and habitats
for local wildlife. The aim of the project was to both engage the
young people of Coventry with their local environment and also
highlight to everyone that there are various ways they can take
action that can make a big difference to their local wildlife.
