Knowle Park Heritage Project
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust was funded by
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) to deliver the Knowle
Park Heritage Project. The project focused on engaging young people
from local schools and youth clubs to research and document the
natural and cultural heritage of the park.
The young people interviewed regular park
users and older people to gather as much information as possible on
what the park used to be like. The intergenerational aspect of this
project was very important, as it brought together the younger and
older generations to document the park's history. A range of
multimedia was used to record the findings, including filming the
interviews, photography, and the production of an interpretation
board. The research focused on what the park was previously used
for, who owned the land and the importance of the green space to
the local community.
This project enabled local groups, such as
local schools, the Friends of Knowle Park and the neighbouring
older people's home, to work together to produce interesting and
informative resources for future generations visiting the park to
enjoy.
The project has now been completed. For
