Earlswood Heritage Project
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust has been
awarded £30,900 by the Heritage Lottery Fund to engage young people
in recording the fascinating natural and human history of
Earlswood. The project will involve a range of practical events and
activities involving all members of the community.

The project aims to bring the history of
Earlswood to life for the young people of Solihull by running a
variety of themed sessions that offer fantastic experiences to
those who participate. Over the course of the project our youth
officer will help young people to film and create a short film.
These short films will span a diverse range of topics about the
natural and human history of Earlswood, its lakes and nature
reserves.
This includes, for example, exploring the
use of Bronze Age burnt mounds whch were used to create an early
form of alfresco sauna called a sweat lodge - or taking part in
modern wildlife surveys and comparing this to the likes of Edith
Holden's 'Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady' written in the area
over 100 years ago.
Whatever young people get involved with in
the Earlswood Heritage Project, there is a voyage of discovery to
be had, in new experiences, exploring the outdoors and discovering
the history of this unique area.
Any young person is completely free to
take part in this project. Simply get in touch!
