The Earlswood Wildlife Partnership
was established to enhance the biodiversity of Earlswood for the
benefit of wildlife and the residents of Earlswood and the
surrounding area.
The partnership consists of Warwickshire
Wildlife Trust, British Waterways, local residents and anyone who
is interested in wildlife.
In 2011 the group was successful in
receiving £13,800 funding from the Nineveh Charitable Trust to
purchase survey equipment, such as moth traps, butterfly nets,
identification guides, bat boxes and bat detectors. The Trust
carried out survey workshops on otter, water vole, moth, butterfly,
hedgerow and wildflowers. The group built a tern raft, with advice
from a local bird surveyor and volunteers from the Trust. British
Waterways held a bat box installation day with the help from
Warwickshire Bat Group.
A number of guided walks, monitoring
sessions and events are scheduled for 2011 to promote the rich
biodiversity of Earlswood area.
The group is still keen to develop the
partnership further, by involving local farmers and businesses to
create green corridors all around Earlswood and then into the Arden
area.
