In celebration of National Play Day, Warwickshire Wildlife Trust is holding a family fun day Brandon Marsh Nature Centre on Saturday 9th August from 11am – 3pm.

18 July 2008 BLOOMING BEAUTIFUL BLUEBELL S 
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust is delighted to receive a grant of £4,450 from Carillion plc’s Natural Habitats Fund to initiate a new project Rough Hill Wood SSSI, near Studley. The project, titled ‘Blooming Beautiful Bluebells’ will enhance the woodland to benefit the bluebells in the wood and also to improve the access for people that wish to visit this fine bluebell wood.

If you, your family or your children like to play outside then Wildplay is for you.  Wildplay sessions include games ranging from ‘scavenger hunts’ to ‘capture the flag’ to ‘tag’ games of all varieties.
This programme is for children aged 8+ and is completely FREE! The Warwickshire Wildlife Trust has partnered with the North Warwickshire Borough Council to deliver this exciting Big Lottery Fund project.

On Saturday 19 July at 10.30 am at Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve, near Coventry Warwickshire Wildlife Trust would like to invite you to join them in this one-day workshop aimed at the non-professional who is interested in a first-rate opportunity to learn more about the ecology and behaviour of grasshoppers and crickets.  The workshop will involve both an indoor  session to hone your ID skills in the morning, and then an afternoon visit to see the animals in their natural environment, so make sure you bring along outdoor gear.

On Saturday June 7 at 8.30 pm:
NATIONAL MOTH NIGHT
Join county moth recorder David Brown to survey the moth population at a local site as part of the county participation on this national event. The main qualifications are interest and enthusiasm. Come and help set up moth traps in a variety of habitats and then marvel at the variety and beauty of the moths we trap.

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust would like to invite you to join them in this afternoon/evening workshop led by the Bat Conservation Trust aimed at potential volunteers who will be interested in helping us to survey bats for local and national projects.  Learn how to use a bat detector, listen to bat calls and learn how to identify bats.

Join local expert Brian Laney on another of his excellent flower walks at Ufton Fields. Brian has a wealth of knowledge on plants and botany so it’s a great day both for beginners and people struggling with some of the more difficult species. It will also be a chance to see how well our efforts to help the man orchids and butterfly orchids are doing.

Join volunteer warden Steve Godfrey for a gentle stroll along around the River Arrow Local Nature Reserve. Take in all the sights of the reserve, form the majestic oak trees to the archaeological remains of the old Benedictine Abbey. You may even be lucky enough to see a kingfisher!

NEW PATH FOR CLOWES WOO D  
A 15 strong team from HSBC’s Solihull Commercial Centre took a day away from lending money to lending support to build a new path at Clowes Wood Site of Special Scientific Interest, Earlswood, to support Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.

02 May 2008 WOODLAND BUTTERFLY PROJECT SUCCESS
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, with a grant of £4,200 from Carillion plc’s ‘Natural Habitat Fund’ have successfully completed a project to improve the habitat at Ryton Wood, near Princethorpe, for the rare wood white butterfly.

The workshop will involve both an indoor and an outdoor session to help you to use a bat detector and to improve your recording techniques and ID skills so make sure you bring along outdoor gear.

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust would like to invite you to join them in this one-day workshop aimed at the non-professional who is interested in helping us to survey water voles for local projects in Warwickshire.  The workshop will involve an outdoor session to teach surveyors how to find and recognise field signs of water voles, rats and field voles so make sure you bring along outdoor gear.

11 March 2008 WATER VOLES AT CHELSEA FLOWER SHO W  
Inspiring gardeners to help save the water vole, one of the UK ’s most endangered mammals, is the theme of a new garden called ‘Ratty’s Refuge’ at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, 20 – 24 May, 2008.  The garden also celebrates the 100th birthday of Kenneth Grahame’s classic book The Wind in the Willows, in which Ratty, a water vole, is the star.

18 January 2008 FUNDING TO SAVE RARE BUTTERFLIES AND MOTHS ON RUGBY NATURE RESERVE
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust has successfully obtained funding from WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental) to fund work towards the survival of the Forester Moth at Ashlawn Cutting Local Nature Reserve in Rugby .  The £5,250 grant awarded to the Trust is generated from the Landfill Communities Fund, formerly the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme.
