WALKING & WORKING

On Saturday 13th October and Sunday 14th October 2007 Warwickshire Wildlife Trust invites you to join us on a guided walk at Ufton Fields SSSI or at one of our weekend work parties on various nature reserves around the county. 

On Saturday 13th October at 10.00 am:

Join the volunteer team at Snitterfield Bushes Site of Special Scientific Interest, Snitterfield, for a practical woodland work party.  Please meet at the nature reserve car park off the Bearley Road at grid reference SP200603.

On Sunday 14th October at 9.30am:

Join the volunteer team at Brandon Marsh Site of Special Scientific Interest, near Coventry and assist in the management of this wetland nature reserve. Please meet at the car park at Brandon Marsh Nature Centre, off Brandon Lane at grid reference SP386761.

Sunday 14th October at 10.00am:

Join volunteer warden Ron Hill for a woodland work party at Clowes Wood and New Fallings Coppice Site of Special Scientific Interest. Please meet at the woodland entrance off Wood Lane, Earlswood at grid reference SP101743.

Join volunteer warden Jon Holmes for a practical woodland management session at Crackley Wood Local Nature Reserve, Kenilworth. Please meet at the entrance to the wood off Crackley Lane at grid reference SP289738.

Join volunteer warden Steve Smith at Glasshouse Spinney, Kenilworth in this woodland management work party. Meet at the entrance off Glasshouse Lane, grid reference SP304714.

Join volunteer warden Dave Solliss at Hampton Wood, Barford to work in this beautiful ancient woodland and its associated water meadows alongside the River Avon. Meet at the entrance [grid reference SP254600] on the Sherbourne to Hampton Lucy road.

Join volunteer warden Phil Parr at Newbold Quarry, Rugby, to work in the nature reserve associated with this large disused quarry pool. Meet in the car park on Newbold Road, grid reference SP 497770.

Join volunteer warden Val Kendrick at Rough Hill Wood Site of Special Scientific Interest, Studley to assist in the management of this wonderful old woodland. Please meet at the car park off The Slough (the A448) at grid reference SP052637.

Join volunteer warden Mike Slater at Ryton Wood Site of Special Scientific Interest, Ryton-on-Dunsmore for a work party in the largest wood in Warwickshire. Please meet at the car park, which can be accessed via an access track off the A423 near the Bull and Butcher pub at grid reference SP384726.

Join volunteer warden David Morphew to assist in the management of Ufton Fields SSSI and LNR, Ufton, to assist in the management of this lovely mixed-habitat reserve. Meet in the car park at grid reference SP378615. [Please bring a packed lunch].

Sunday October 14th at 2.30pm join local expert, John Roberts, for an Autumn Walk around Ufton Fields Site of Special Scientific Interest, Ufton, near Leamington Spa. This guided walk will take in the sights of the berries, birds and fungi of this delightful Local Nature Reserve in its spectacular autumn colours. Please meet in the car park off Ufton Fields Lane at grid reference SP378615.

COST:  £2 per person

For each event, all you need to bring is appropriate weatherproof clothing and strong footwear.

Eddie Asbery, Reserves Woodland Project Officer at Warwickshire Wildlife Trust says, “Our regular work parties are continuing, and we will be delighted to welcome you to any one of them – or more than one, if you are really keen to help us in our management programmes for the autumn and winter. If you would prefer, why not join in with our guided Autumn Walk in Ufton Fields SSSI and LNR. Come and enjoy this nature reserve at its most colourful in the company of local expert John Roberts and learn more about the measures our flora and fauna take to prepare foe winter.”

Events are free and full training will be given.
