WILD
REWARDS FOR YOUNG READERS
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust
have rewarded ten budding young readers with Wildlife goody bags and
a family day out to Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve .
The Big Wild Read Competition saw children under the age of 12 identifying
books with different creatures in and the first lucky ten children to send
in their entries won the goody bags and free family admission to Brandon
Marsh Nature Centre.
Peter Rabbit and Watership Down were the most popular for books with a
rabbit in, with The Hungry Caterpillar and
Charlotte
s Web following close behind for caterpillars and spiders a like!
Jen Jones, Senior Education Officer for Warwickshire Wildlife Trust said It
is a great way to get children into reading. The creature stories also
help teach them about nature and how important it is. The workshops that
we run throughout the holidays encourage the children to use their
imaginations to learn about different aspects of wildlife and their
habitats.
Brandon Marsh Nature Centre hosts various activities throughout the
holidays for children of all ages and the bonus of our newly refurbished
tearoom means parents can relax with a cup of tea and homemade cake or
wander through the beautiful Nature Reserve. If you would like any more
information please contact the Visitor Centre on 02476 302912.
