SPRING WORK PARTIES AND WALKS.

On Saturday 21st April and Sunday 22nd April 2007 Warwickshire Wildlife Trust invites you to enjoy the spring sunshine and join us at one of our weekend work parties on various nature reserves around the county.  Alternatively why not savour the seasonal changes with a guided walk around Deans Green nature reserve?

On Saturday 21st April at 10.00 am:

Join the warden team at Snitterfield Bushes Site of Special Scientific Interest, Snitterfield, for a practical woodland work party. Please meet at the nature reserve car park off the Bearley Road at grid reference SP200603.

Join volunteer warden Steve Godfrey for this practical workparty helping to manage the River Arrow Local Nature Reserve in Alcester.  Please meet in the car park of Ragley Mill Lane  (SP 088 580)

On Sunday 22nd April at 10.00am:

Join the volunteer team at Brandon Marsh Site of Special Scientific Interest, near Coventry and assist in the management of this wetland nature reserve. Please meet at the car park at Brandon Marsh Nature Centre, off Brandon Lane at grid reference  SP386761.

Join volunteer warden Ron Hill for a woodland work party at Clowes Wood and New Fallings Coppice Site of Special Scientific Interest. Please meet at the woodland entrance off Wood Lane, Earlswood at grid reference SP101743.

Join warden Jon Holmes for a practical woodland management session at Crackley Wood Local Nature Reserve, Kenilworth. Please meet at the entrance to the wood off Crackley Lane at grid reference SP289738.

Join volunteer warden Val Kendrick at Rough Hill Wood Site of Special Scientific Interest, Studley to assist in the management of this wonderful old woodland. Please meet at the car park off The Slough (the A448) at grid reference SP052637.

Join volunteer warden Mike Slater at Ryton Wood Site of Special Scientific Interest, Ryton-on-Dunsmore for a work party in the largest wood in Warwickshire. Please meet at the car park which can be accessed via an access track off the A423 near the Bull and Butcher pub at grid reference SP384726.

Join volunteer wardens Harry and Mary Tipping for this guided walk around Deans Green nature reserve, nearly Henley In Arden.  The reserve which is noted for its two meadows, home to wild flowers and butterflies is a joy to behold at this time of year.  Please meet at the field gate entrance SP 132 682.  There is a small charge of £2 per person to cover our costs.

For all events all you need to bring is appropriate weatherproof clothing and strong footwear.

Bernie Higgins , Reserves Biodiversity Officer at Warwickshire Wildlife Trust said, “Why not spring into action and become more involved with your local nature reserve?  Not only will you learn more about your local wildlife, the work parties are a great way to meet like-minded people as each reserve has a team of friendly, regular volunteers who always welcome new faces.  Spring is a great time to be working outside, all the bird are singing in the trees and it really makes you appreciate how special our local wildlife is.”
