August 2008…………...For Immediate Release
PEACE AND LIGHT
On Sunday 31 August
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust invites you to join in with one of our work
parties.
On Sunday 31 August at 10.00 am:
Join volunteer warden Dave Solliss at
Hampton
Wood, Barford to work in this
beautiful ancient woodland and its associated water meadows alongside the
River Avon. Meet at the
entrance [grid reference SP254600] on the Sherbourne to Hampton Lucy road.
Join volunteer wardens Howard and Serena Eccles at Kenilworth
Common Local Nature Reserve, an area of wonderfully diverse woodland
for a practical management session. Meet at the railway bridge on
Common Lane
, at grid reference SP299732.
These events are free and full training will be given.
For each event, all you need to bring is appropriate weatherproof clothing
and strong footwear.
Ian Jelley, Reserves Volunteering Officer at Warwickshire Wildlife
Trust says, “The news this
month has been dominated by brutal conflicts. It seems that many of the
wars in modern history have started in August and, interestingly, the
month is named after the first Roman Emperor, Augustus, who was a fierce
and highly successful military commander. However, not everywhere is up in
arms, especially not our reserves. Join in with one of our two work
parties and savour the tranquillity of these lovely reserves. You will
meet like-minded people who will be delighted to see you and after an
active day spent in helping to make the reserves more attractive for the
residents as well as the visitors, the world will seem a better place”.
