On Saturday 5 July at 10.30 am at Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve, near Coventry

DRAGONFLY SURVEYING WORKSHOP
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust and the Warwickshire Dragonfly Group would like to invite you to join them in this one-day workshop aimed at the non-professional who is interested in helping us to survey dragonflies for local projects in Warwickshire.

The workshop will involve both an indoor ID session to hone your ID skills in the morning, and then an afternoon visit to see the animals in their natural environment, so make sure you bring along outdoor gear.

Refreshments will be provided.

COST:             £6.50 per person, which includes refreshments, and a £5 contribution to Warwickshire Dragonfly Group.

Places are confirmed on receipt of payment, but they are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment

To reserve your place please contact Peter Reeve on 01926 632400

or email peter@reeve60.uklinux.net

On Sunday 6 July at 10.00 am:
Join volunteer warden Dave Solliss at Hampton Wood, Barford to work in this beautiful ancient woodland and its associated water meadows alongside the River Avon.  Meet at the entrance [grid reference SP254600] on the Sherbourne to Hampton Lucy road

This event is free and full training will be given.

For each event, all you need to bring is appropriate weatherproof clothing and strong footwear.

Bernie Higgins, Reserves Biodiversity Officer at Warwickshire Wildlife Trust says, On 6 July 1919 the newly constructed airship A34 arrived at Mineola Airfield, Long Island after making the first east-west crossing of the Atlantic by air. The flight took a record 108 hours and represented an average speed of approximately 1km/hour!! Our large dragonflies average a flight speed of 25 km/hour and are one of the most attractive of flying creatures. To find out more about them and how you can help to ensure that, unlike the airship, we shall still be seeing plenty of these glittering insects in 89 years time, come along to our Workshop – but book soon. Places on this popular course are limited.”
