Warwickshire Wildlife Trust and the Warwickshire Dragonfly Group would like to invite you to join them in this one-day workshop aimed at the non-professional who is interested in helping us to survey dragonfly larvae for local projects in Warwickshire, and identify their breeding grounds. Learn more about the ecology and behaviour of dragonflies.

The workshop will involve both an indoor ID session to hone your ID skills in the morning, and then an afternoon visit to see the animals in their natural environment, so make sure you bring along outdoor gear.

Refreshments will be provided.

COST:      £6.50 per person, which includes refreshments, and a £5 contribution to Warwickshire Dragonfly Group.

Bernie Higgins, Reserves Biodiversity Officer, says, “Dragonflies are stunningly beautiful insects, having wings that glitter with all colours of the rainbow in the sunlight. They are perfectly adapted for flight and incredibly agile and manoeuvrable insects, able to hover, glide, and fly forwards, backwards and sideways. The original Harrier jump jets!! However, without larvae, there would be no adults, and our workshop is a crucial factor in establishing the health of the local dragonfly populations and their habitats.”

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust is the leading local charity for wildlife and the environment.  The Trust currently cares for over 55 nature reserves throughout Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull , and has a wide range of conservation activities taking place throughout the year.  For further details or to get a copy of our leaflet “Wild Events and Activities” please contact the Trust on 024 7630 8999, drop into the Trust’s Visitor Centres at Brandon Marsh Nature Centre and Parkridge Centre in Brueton Park , Solihull , pick up a leaflet in your local library or visit our website on www.warwickshire-wildlife-trust.org.uk
